【摘要】:Weatheringisaninherentlyvariablescienceduetothefactthatweatheritselfisvariable.Inaddition,therecanbevariabilityinresultsinartificialacceleratedtestingevenwhenalldevicesarerunningidenticalexposurecycles.Therefore,itisessentialtocontrolallfactorsasmuchaspossibleinordertoreducetheoverallsourceoferror.Properhandlingofspecimensisextremelyimportantformaintainingtheintegrityofthematerialbeingevaluated.Damagetospecimenscausedbyimproperhandlingandlabelingcanadverselyaffectthevalidityofthetestingprogram,causinglossofmoneyandtime.Improperhandlingcanintroducenonstandardproceduresintotheprotocolwhichmaybeasignificantsourceofvariability,adverselyaffectingtheoverallprecisionofresultsobtained.Improperhandlingmayalsointroduceabiasintheresultsobtained.Changestomaterialscanoccurevenunderaseeminglybenignconditioningenvironment,especiallyifthespecimenhasalreadybeenexposed.Thereforeitisnecessarytominimizethenumberandlengthofnon-testingperiodsinorderthattheexposureistheonlycauseoffurtherchanges.1.1Thispracticecoversspecimenpreparation,identification,packing,shipping,handling,andconditioningbefore,during,andafternaturalandartificialweatheringtesting.1.2Thispracticeincludesdetailsontheconditioningofspecimensafterexposureandbeforeexamination.Thispracticealsocoverslong-termstorageoffilespecimens.1.3Conditioninginthispracticedoesnotrefertothespecificactofexposingthespecimenstotheweatheringfactors.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;ThereisnoequivalentISOstandarddescribingproceduresforidentification,shipping,conditioning,andhandlingofspecimensintendedfornaturalorartificialweatheringtests.ISO139andISO291describeproceduresusedforconditioningspecimenspriortoandduringphysicalpropertytesting.
