【摘要】:Abailerisadeviceforobtainingasamplefromstratifiedorun-stratifiedwatersandliquidwastes.Themostcommonuseofabailerisforsamplinggroundwaterfromsingle-screenedwells(Fig.1)andwellclusters(seeGuideD4448).Thispracticeisapplicabletosamplingwaterandliquidwastes.Thesamplingprocedurewilldependonsamplingplanandthedataqualityobjectives(DQOs)(PracticeD5792).Bailersmaybeusedtopurgegroundwaterwellspriortosampling,butbailersarepoordevicesforremovinglargevolumesofwater.Bailersmaybeusedtosamplewatersandliquidwastesinundergroundandabovegroundtanksandsurfaceimpoundments.However,thedesignoftheunitandassociatedpipingshouldbewellunderstoodsothatthebailercanaccessthedesiredcompartmentanddepth.Anystratificationoftheliquidshouldbeidentifiedpriortosampling.Note18212;Viscousliquidsandsuspendedsolidsmayinterferewithabailerrsquo;designedoperation.Bailersdonotsubjectthesampletopressureextremes.Bailingdoesdisturbthewatercolumnandmaycausechangestotheparameterstobemeasured(forexample,turbidity,gases,etc.).1.1Thispracticecoverstheprocedureforsamplingstratifiedorun-stratifiedwatersandliquidwasteusingbailers.1.2Threespecificbailersarediscussedinthispractice.Thebailersarethesingleanddoublecheckvalveanddifferentialpressure.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotcoverallofthebailingdevicesavailabletotheuser.Thebailerschosenforthispracticearetypicalofthosecommerciallyavailable.1.4ThispracticeshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithGuideD4687,PracticeD5088,andPracticeD5283.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
