【摘要】:Themechanicalpropertiesofthestrandaredeterminedbyatestinwhichfractureofthespecimenoccursinthefreespanbetweenthejawsofthetestingmachine.Mechanicalpropertiesofthestrandwillbenegativelyaffectedifpropercareisnottakentopreventdamagesuchasseverebending,abrasion,ornickingofthestrandduringsampling.Prematurefailureofthetestspecimensmayresultifthereisappreciablenotching,cutting,orbendingofthespecimenbythegrippingdevicesofthetestingmachine.Errorsintestingwillresultifthewiresconstitutingthestrandarenotloadeduniformly.Themechanicalpropertiesofthestrandwillbemateriallyaffectedbyexcessiveheatingduringspecimencollectionorpreparation.4.6GrippingdifficultieswillbeminimizedbyfollowingthesuggestedmethodsofgrippingdescribedinSection7.1.1Thesetestmethodsdescribeproceduresfortestingthemechanicalaswellasrelaxationpropertiesofmulti-wiresteelstrand.1.2Thesetestmethodsareintendedforuseinevaluatingspecificstrandpropertiesprescribedinspecificationsformulti-wiresteelstrand,buttheydonotquantifyacceptancecriteriaspecifiedintheapplicablespecificationforthestrandbeingtested.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
